Life's Way

It has been a long time since I have shared thoughts with those of you who come to Heavenly Bounty's website.  Life has a way of growing you if you allow God to work in your life.  Oh, where shall I start?  Last year was an interesting year here.  In 2015 we began trying to turn the back 2.5 acres into a bee haven.  We planted 40 Rosemary plants to start with.  Then due to Jerry's accident in April we lost all of those.  So as we started 2016 we once again planted 40 Rosemary plants and 40 Thyme (20 English Thyme and 20 Lemon Thyme).  We also planted 54 trees that are known to supply pollen to the bees year round.  We also planted a good size garden in the front 2.5 acres.  If you remember the weather last year it rained a LOT upfront and then got very hot and dry.  We lost the garden to Johnson grass and Bermuda as I was just not able to stay ahead of it.  The good side of this is that we managed to maintain most of the Rosemary, Thyme, and the trees in the back.  When this year got here I wasn't even sure I wanted to put in a garden as I was fighting Johnson grass, Bermuda, and the bees which were about 10 feet from my garden were aggressive.   Hold that thought as I will come back to it.  So we decided that we would take small sections of the garden and recover it a bit at a time.  That has worked very well! We took the 16' x 16' raised bed and dug it, removing the grass and reworking it.  Then we put in potatoes, spinach (the vine kind that I have never had before), tomatoes, bell peppers, & green beans. The spinach is stronger than what I normally plant.  I have started cutting it back in order to keep it under control. Yes, it is still producing like crazy. The rest of the items are doing really great.  The Mulberry tree produced a lot of mulberries and I have made 2 batches of jam and have more in the freezer to make.  The fig tree are now producing.

Now back to the bees and their aggression.  Several times I have been stung on the head while in the garden in the afternoon.  Jerry was mowing the unplanted area of the garden and I was showing him how far to come back so he didn't get important items.  Out of the BLUE a nailed me on the top of the head. By that evening my face was swollen about half way down my nose.  I decided it was time to get rid of the bees.  Well, given a little time and some encouragement from Jerry we moved the bees to the back 2.5 acres.  The next time I got stung was as I was working them which happens. It was on my leg which is much better than the head.  I have used essential oils, benedryl, and many other things before.  This time I decided I would use Young Living Cool Azul Sports Gel . I know this is not what that is for but, WOW.  It took all the heat and red out of the sting.  The next time I got stung I did not even take a Benedry I just reached for the Cool Azul Sports Gel.  I put it on 2 times before bed and by morning it was not even pink!! The funny part of this is that for years, yes years, Jerry has wanted me to move the bees to the back pasture and I was just toooo stubborn to do it. Life certainly has a way of teaching you lessons.  I am working on learning not to be so stubborn.  Please consider ordering some of this by using the link above and use my distributor # 742026.  If you want to get a discount consider signing up by ordering a kit.  All the information for how to do this is on my essential oil page.

I would love to hear your suggestions, questions, comments.  I have many essential oils on hand if you are interested.
