Bee Stings

Bee stings are painful and can be very dangerous if you are allergic to them.  I raise bees for honey, cone, beeswax and pollination or my garden and flowers. One of the things I have learned is that I hate to be stung, it HURTS.  My body is kind of funny in that sometimes when I get stung it leaves a little whelp and itches other times it gets ugly.  I have an epi pen just in case of a major reaction.

So lets start from the first and hopefully you will garner some useful information from this article.  If you have bees you will get stung not once but numerous times, so lets be prepared, thus the epi pen.  I am still deciphering what brings about the different reactions.  As I garner more information on that I will share.

Yesterday I was out in my garden working to get some plants in the ground and areas ready to plant, as we were supposed to get some rain.   The bees were out and about, not really aggressive but definitely checking out who was in the area and if they were a threat.  Jerry turned and one got him on the ear.  They checked us both out several times and then went on and left us alone.  Jerry was fixing to go to town when I had one get tangled in my hair.  I do not like for them to get in my hair!  I was praying I did not get stung and managed to get it almost out of my hair.  I had Jerry remove the little thing and decided it was time to go inside and take a coffee break.  Since Jerry was gone I thought I would put my bonnet on to keep the bees from getting tangled in my hair and go back out.  I fired up my tiller and went to work tilling the area for tomato plants.  I had a couple bump the hat and thought okay.  Then I had one sting me on the high cheek bone right under the eye.  I flipped the switch on the tiller, dropped it, and went to the house just in case I had a reaction.  Once I got the house the first thing I did was go to the bathroom, take a knife and flip the stinger out of my cheek.  NOTE: Never pull the stinger out with tweezers because that squeezes all the poison into your body.  Then I put Ledum essential oil on it and went to get a Benadryl.  It hurt like crazy even in the jaw bone and was already about the size of a quarter.  I figured I would have a swollen eye by morning.

One of the benefits of being a Young Living Distributor is that there is a world of information available to you.  I remembered one of the children of the lady who helped me get started in Young Living getting stung by a wasp and she pulled out oils immediately.   I called her to find out which oils she used.  She told me Lavender, Purification, Patchouli, and Valor if needed.  I put the Lavender on it and was surprised at how it burned.  Later after I had finished in the garden I took a bath and put Patchouli on it.  About an hour later I found my Purification oil and put that on it.  It was looking better by the time I went to bed.  Now, don't think it was the Benadryl was the solution as I always take Benadryl when I get stung and never have this good of a response.

Today I began to contemplate why these oils made a difference. I want to take a minute and give you some information on the properties of each of the oils one by one.

Ledum or Greenland Moss: terpene hydrocarbons, sesquiterpene-ketones, germacrone   (these help with detoxing which helps the liver)

Lavender: Linalol and Linalyl aetate (these help relieve tension and relieves pain)

Patchouli: Sesquitrerpenes, sesquiterpene alcohols (help veins which helps blood flow)

Purification (which is a mix of several oils): "Purification® can be used directly on the skin to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes. When diffused, it helps to purify and cleanse the air from environmental impurities including cigarette smoke and other disagreeable odors. " Young Living.

We are now 24 hours into the process and unless you know I was stung you probably would not even notice.  I am impressed with the process and will continue to use these oils for another 24 hours.  I am thinking by that time there will be no evidence of any kind.  If you are interested in any of these oils please take a minute and go to https://www.youngliving.org/dtidwell and place your order.  This might be a perfect time for you to think about becoming a distributor. Let me know if I can help in any way.  You can sign up on the above website to be a distributor also.

Here we are in May almost June.  I have discovered a lot about the essential oils listed in the article above.  If you notice there is one that is in Purple There is a very good reason.  I have discovered if I up Patchouli on the immediately when I get stung I have a lot less issues.  Try these essential oils out and see what works for you.

Jeremiah 29:1111 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Each day is a new day with new experiences, new people and new lessons. We loose sight of the fact that God has plans for our lives.  He knows where He wants to take us and how to get there. We only see a tiny dot of all that is going on around us, in us, with us, and for us.  It is kind of like looking through a keyhole.  Tunnel vision some of us say.  Sometimes we get stuck in a rut, so to speak, and do things the same way and get the same results.  Most of the time that frustrates us as it should.

Sometimes I think we forget that as we walk out our lives from day to day we forget God knows where He wants us to be.  Even though we can only see through the keyhole we think we know the way to walk.  God has a plan for us when we are a baby, a child, a teen, a young adult, young married couple, parent, middle age, aging and.......................  We want to see the big picture but, if we did we would be unsettled by the struggles to arrive at our destination at any point on our journey.

Sometimes the hardest part is to keep our hand in His hand and know He has the map.  It is hard when you reach a point in your life where you feel change on the horizon.  When you sense there is a change coming yet can't see clearly it is incredibly hard to "Be still and know He is God" and has everything under control.  This is especially hard when looking through the keyhole you catch a glimpse of things that have nothing to do with where you believe God has called you to be right now.  Are you longing to stick your head through that keyhole and see what is on the other side.  Ah, but He calls us to be patient and wait on Him to lead the way.  Would you rush on and miss the trip with our Lord or; hold close to His hand so you can be awe struck by the awesome trip, the surprises along the way, and the incredible journey's end.  I challenge you to put your hand in His hand and slow down in our fast paced world.  Or....Psalms 23 The Lord is my shepherd,A)'> I lack nothing.B)'>
2     He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,C)'>
3     he refreshes my soul.D)'>
He guides meE)'> along the right pathsF)'>
    for his name’s sake.G)'>
4 Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,a]'>[a]H)'>
I will fear no evil,I)'>
    for you are with me;J)'>
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me

You prepare a tableK)'> before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;L)'>
    my cupM)'> overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and loveN)'> will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

What is your choice for today?

Proverbs 2:22 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Obviously there is a gap between November 2013 and March 2014.  The plan is to get better at this as I go along.  There seem to be so many things that need my attention right now that I think I dropped the ball on the newsletter.

My goal for this news letter is to give you information that will assist you in making informed decisions as you walk out your life. Soooooo, lets see, what have I learned since the last time I wrote a newsletter.  I have ordered a few different essential oils to try so I would have a working knowledge of them.  The picture above is one of those oils. There seems to be a tremendous amount of stress all around us.  Americans are working longer hours, bringing home less pay, the remainder of our hours are filled with other activities we MUST do.  On top of all of that there are the day to day stresses of family life.  I had never smelled this oil but, decided I would get some of it and diffuse it with the "travel fan diffuser" that is listed on my website  (http://www.youngliving.org/dtidwell).  I was very impressed with it and discovered when I was really stressing I could turn my diffuser on and really benefit from it.

I have bees and am learning so much about handling them and maintaining them in a way that assures they are happy (to the best of my ability).  Now, that is a learning process.  I lost one hive this year to mice but, will do better next winter.  I have started stretching my wings a little in this adventure.  I am using some of the essential oils mixed in water as a deterrent to some of the pest problems for bees. So far that has really been productive.  I made a vapor rub that has really benefited the people who have been gracious enough to try it and let me what they think.  I am experimenting some with the particular oils I use and discovering more than one I like.  I am also away the way learning to make some that I plan on using as lip balm.  There seem to be so many things on the horizon for Heavenly Bounty.  What essential oils do you think would be used in vapor rub?

The garden is the next thing that is coming along.  I am so thankful for the rain.  We needed it so much.  I have had to really grow in the area of patience and accepting what I can accomplish and what is not to be done right now.  I have had some unexpected help this year from my sweet husband.  So very thankful for that.  There are many things that I have not accomplished but, the lettuce (red and green), swiss chard (red and green), spinach, broccoli, cabbage and some potatoes are in the ground.  I am in the process of reworking my walkways and doing some maintenance.  Now I am relishing the rain we are receiving.  By the time for the next news letter I am hoping I have a lot more information for you on essential oils, beekeeping, and fresh produce.  Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter and please respond.  I am anxious for comments good or bad.  Each help me grow and evaluate the areas I need to improve in.
